Veronika Vermeulen isn’t originally from New Zealand, but her love for her adopted homeland rivals that of any native Kiwi. She first came to the country on what was intended to be a world tour. But, once there, she canceled the rest of her trip.
“I fell in love with the country immediately - with the people, the lifestyle, the landscape. So I stayed instead of traveling the world.”
For the past 20 years, Veronika has shared her love of the island nation with clients of her private guided tour company.
“It’s a stunningly beautiful country. When visitors go home, they take back their love for the country in their hearts. They find they love the people as much as the landscape, and there’s hardly a landscape you can’t find in New Zealand.”
You’ll find sandy pink, black, yellow, and white beaches; vivid, green valleys; alpine mountains; rainforests, and fjords.
There’s a unique culture rooted in the native Maori and their connection with nature. New Zealanders are passionate about protecting the environment. And Veronika is no exception. In addition to her tour business, she and her husband also own three dairy farms, all carbon neutral.
“In New Zealand, we believe we can work together to make the world a better place. Through the innovative use of technology, we can have a better environment. We won’t solve all the world’s problems, but we will show that it can be better.”
She believes variety is what makes the country so unique.
“We’re multicultural. Everyone is highly educated. We’re respectful of different cultures because every fourth person is a migrant. People come to New Zealand because they want to make a difference.”
