October is National Book month though it is always a good month for books! To celebrate we have a lot of exciting events going on having to do with books and authors.
We kicked off our Meet the Author’s Series with Guest Speakers coming to share their experience writing a book. All the authors have opted to do this as a second career path or in retirement so offer a lot of wisdom for those who are considering it.
Plus we have a number of great classes and interest groups focused on reading especially for those who can’t stop turning those pages!
Be sure to join fellow book lovers in such classes as Coffee Chat Books & Reading, Interest Group: What Are You Reading?, and our book clubs Social Hour - GetSetUp Book Club or Book Club By Gayatri Rai.
Curious what other members of the GetSetUp community are reading? Why not check out some of their favorite books?
“My most recent read was " Personal Librarian"
“If you like science fiction or fantasy, you'll love Lois McMaster Bujold. She's the flagship of the fleet.”
“I just finished reading A Day Like This by Kelly McNeil and just loved it. It’s about a female painter who has an accident, and the possibility of our lives continuing in different directions, dimensions.”
“Loved both of these.
Beneath a Scarlet Sky - intense biography during war times. High action
The Summer Cottage - great beach book with a great life lesson reminder built into every chapter. Setting is a small lake town on Lake Michigan."
“I highly recommend this book to anyone. It dives deep into the psychological and cultural archetypes we have created for and around women as we find and retell them through classic stories, tales, and legends. It’s an eye-opening look at how the stories we read shape us.”
So if you are looking for a good read try out one of the suggestions from our community. Or join one of the many book related events happening on GetSetUp this month to trade great reads with other avid readers!
