On this night before Christmas, the GetSetUp team is getting into the holiday spirit. Our Guides are hosting fun holiday hours and some of the rest of our team opted for some poetic ventures.

As the saying goes great minds think alike. Marv put together a wonderful rendition of a GetSetUp Night Before Christmas, which you can watch him recite before this less poetic and charismatic written version could come to light.

Re-writing classic poetry like Clement Clarke Moore’s “A Visit from St. Nicholas” never goes out of style. We hope you enjoy our dedication to cheer this holiday season.

A visit from GetSetUp

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the GetSetUp site

Lots of people were stirring, and moving their mouse;

The Zoom calls were made from near and far with care,

In hopes that loved ones would soon be there;

The headphones were nestled all snug on learners' heads;

While visions of grandchildren showed pulling their sleds;

And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled our brains for a long winter's cold snap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.

Away to the window, I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,

Gave a luster of midday to objects below,

When what to my wondering eyes did appear,

But a delivery driver full of good cheer,

With a little old driver so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment he must be the UPS guy, Nick.

More rapid than eagles his special forces came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called out to us by name:

"Now, Asher! Now, Dancer! I have gifts from Lance and Nixon!

Stay safe insight on your chat with the Ricksons!

To the top of the porch! I’ll leave the gifts near the wall!

Now I’ll dash away! As masks are the way for all!"

Before he turned to leave I waved goodbye,

When people face obstacles, they turn to the sky;

So up to the further houses, the truck flew

With the compartment full of toys, and jolly Nicholas too—

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the screen

The prancing and pawing of our family’s teens.

As I came back to the screen and was turning around,

Uploaded on the screen was Pictionary with a sound.

We were dressed all in pajamas from head to foot,

But got to play together virtually guessing words like barefoot;

A bundle of packages doesn’t bring hugs back,

But it’s excellent to know I can visit everyone from this Mac.

Our children’s eyes—how they twinkled with dimples so merry!

Our friends’ cheeks were like roses, and in their drinks were a cherry!

It was fun to see family undo the presents we had sent with a bow,

Plus no one had to brave the terrible weather or snow;

The stump of a pipe Roger held tight in his teeth,

Boy, what a relief not to smell the smoke, as it encircled his head like a wreath;

Everyone was happy and jolly as food had formed their a little round belly

That shook when they laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.

Sally made us all laugh at her interpretation of an elf,

And I laughed when I saw them all, in spite of myself;

The wink of their eyes and shaking of heads

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

Words can’t make up a Christmas apart,

But at least we could share moments and know in our heart

That while the year was a weird one

Both good and bad happened like Judy’s new grandson.

This year perhaps I wouldn’t be kept awake by a relative’s snoring whistle,

But at least I got to see everyone’s holiday decorations and tinsel.

It’s so great to learn new skills, GetSetUp’s classes have given me peace of mind and foresight,

So, “Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good GetSetUp night!”

From the whole GetSetUp Team we wish you a very happy holiday season!
