Weekend Series and a week full of Guest Speakers to get you up and motivated!

Start the weekend with a special series highlighting history in all its forms. Begin with our Juneteenth series to focus on an exploration of the history of the newest federal holiday and the importance of reflecting on the past to bring to light the present.

Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom

Juneteenth, which also goes by Emancipation Day, Freedom Day, Liberation Day, or Jubilee Day, is an annual American holiday on June 19th.  The holiday commemorates the official end of slavery in the state of Texas in 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. While it originated in Texas, Juneteenth is now nationally recognized for its significance and celebrated across the country.

Then continue your weekend by celebrating Father’s Day with special classes curated for Dad and to remember the fond memories the two of you have shared together. Better yet bring Dad to a class to share in the experience together!

Celebrating Dad

Join us in celebrating all the Dads in our lives for Father's Day. You'll be able to reflect on and share memories, hear from Guides about their own Fathers, and learn how to make a Father's Day gift with a personal touch!

Stretch your boday and build your career opportunities

Nothing gives you more of an opportunity to stretch than National Yoga Day! Join Laury from the YMCA of Greater Houston on Monday, June 21 as she helps you guide your body into poses that allow you to stretch to your full potential.

Guest Speaker: Celebrate National Yoga Day with GetSetUp and the YMCA of Houston

Join us for a special 45-min Forever Well yoga class taught by guest instructor Laury Smith from the YMCA of Greater Houston. This class lets your body be your guide. No single pose is required and modifications are available for every pose letting you determine when you’re more flexible or ready for more challenging poses.

Then, be sure to tune in the following day, Tuesday, June 22,  as Lauren helps show you how to reach your professional potential by optimizing your LinkedIn profile. If you are looking to get back out in the professional world or highlight your current professional skills on the leading career-focused business social media platform this is the event for you. Here you can learn how to cultivate your network, how to optimize your profile, and how to make the most of LinkedIn.

Guest Speaker: Rock Your LinkedIn Profile with Lauren Jolda

Your LinkedIn profile helps you get recognized and opens the door to new opportunities like partnerships, new business, mentorships, or speaking events. Your profile is complete only if it’s completely you. In this introductory session, you’ll learn more about how LinkedIn can connect you to opportunities. We’ll introduce you to the core 5 profile sections: Photo/Headline, Summary, Work Experience, Featured, and Volunteer Experience, and the best practices for each. We’ll also spotlight some newly released features such as Cover Story, Pronouns, and Creator Mode. We’ll end by talking about how to cultivate a network on LinkedIn that you can pull from and give back to when you need.
