‘’Throughout my life, I worked for big corporations in Argentina. But there came a time when I wanted to pursue my passion. 27 years ago, I quit my job to become a cosmetologist (A professional licenced to provide cosmetic treatments to skin, hair, and nails), focusing on body cosmetology (Focusing on the condition and appearance of skin). Nowadays, I continue to be an assistant in our body aesthetics office, although the business stopped completely due to the pandemic. We had to do virtual courses, which felt like they put a brake in our face, we really couldn't do more. Despite having retired a few years ago, I always continued working because I am passionate about my career, but in the pandemic, everything changed. We couldn't go out. The street looked like something out of a movie; it was very distressing. We couldn't even go to family gatherings, nothing. So, I said: Well, what can I do from home? Investigating and taking advantage of the internet, I found many learning opportunities. So, I signed up for 3 online courses: English classes, health & nutrition, and computing. I did the computing course twice as there are always new things that come out, and it is great for me to be up to date with everything. Apart from that, now that the situation is a little better, I take the opportunity to walk every day.’’
Lidia’s life advice: ‘Despite the uncertainty, there are always tools to get ahead. The key is to actively look for them instead of remaining paralyzed and focusing on the bad things of the situation.’’

‘’A lo largo de mi vida, trabajé en grandes empresas en Argentina. Pero llegó un momento en el que me di cuenta de que quería perseguir lo que me apasionaba y trabajar de manera independiente. Hace 27 años tomé la decisión de renunciar a mi trabajo para convertirme en cosmetóloga. Me enfoqué en la parte de estética corporal que serían los masajes, drenajes entre otras cosas. Y hoy día continúo siendo asistente en nuestro consultorio de estética corporal, y me hace feliz. Por la pandemia el negocio se detuvo completamente. Tuvimos que hacer cursos virtuales y eso fue como si nos pusieran un freno en la cara, porque realmente no podíamos hacer más. Yo a pesar de haberme jubilado hace unos cuantos años siempre seguí trabajando porque me apasiona mi carrera, pero en la pandemia todo cambió. Aquí en Argentina, fue como si todo se paralizara. No podíamos salir, la calle parecía algo de película, fue muy angustiante. No podíamos ni siquiera ir a reuniones familiares, a nada. Así que dije: ¿Bueno qué puedo hacer desde casa? Investigando y aprovechando las nuevas herramientas que tenemos hoy día, ósea, en internet encontré muchísimas oportunidades de aprendizaje. Así que me inscribí a 3 cursos: A clases de inglés, alimentación saludable, y computación. El de computación lo hice 2 veces porque siempre hay cosas nuevas que salen y me viene bárbaro estar al día con todo. Aparte de eso, ahora que la situación está un poco mejor, aprovecho a caminar todos los días, y de a poquito estamos volviendo al consultorio de estética corporal.’’
Consejo: ‘’Si algo me enseñó toda esta situación, es que, a pesar de la incertidumbre, siempre hay herramientas para salir adelante. La cuestión es buscarlas y no quedarse paralizado.’’
