Many of you have seen some of Pete Souza’s iconic photography from his time as the Chief Official White House Photographer and the Director of the White House photo office for the Obama and Reagan administrations. Enjoy these photographs all over again and learn the stories behind the images that have captured the hearts and minds of so many Americans.

Pete Souza is a best-selling author, speaker and freelance photographer. He is most famous for his 8 years as the Chief Official White House Photographer and the Director of the White House photo office for President Obama and his work as a photographer to President Reagan.

His book, Obama: An Intimate Portrait debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. It is one of the best-selling photography books of all time. More recently he has published Shade: A Tale of Two Presidents, which also debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list in October 2018.

Pete Souza.

Based on his best-selling books, Souza became the subject of a documentary film in November 2020, The Way I See It. His unique perspective has led him to lecture numerous times about his photography including at the Smithsonian Museum of American History, Carnegie Hall, Harvard University, FaceBook, and internationally, while also appearing in national and international press. Souza has had his work shown around the world and even was part of the staff awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2001 for reporting on the airline industry. With the Chicago Tribune, he was on the team that covered the fall of Kabul, Afghanistan after crossing the Hindu Kush mountains on horseback in the snow to cover the story.

His exciting career has covered a lot of ground in communication and journalism and now he is coming to GetSetUp to share the behind the scenes stories of two of the most iconic Presidents in history, Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan, as seen through Souza's eyes and camera. As Official White House Photographer for both these Presidents, Souza was an eyewitness to the unique and tremendous responsibilities of being the United States President. During the course of his career,  Souza transformed from a respected White House photographer and photojournalist to a searing commentator on the importance of having someone with empathy and dignity in the office of the Presidency.

As the Chief Official White House Photographer for President Barack Obama and Official White House Photographer for President Reagan from 1983-1989, Pete was in a unique position to spend rare and intimate moments in the Oval Office observing two transformative Presidents of the United States. He shares some of his iconic behind-the-scenes photographs, along with his poignant detailed stories, all leading to a bold and dynamic depiction of true leadership.
