30-45 minutes
500 grams potatoes (about 12 -15 baby potatoes)
6-8 big flakes of garlic
1/2 cup coriander and cumin powder
½ teaspoon turmeric
2-3 tablespoons jaggery
1 tablespoon tamarind paste
Chili powder to taste
Salt to taste
1. Take all the ingredients except for potatoes and put them in a blender.
2. Add about 1/2 cup of water, or more if required, while blending.
3. After blending, taste the gravy.
4. The gravy should have a sour, sweetish, and a spicy taste. You can adjust the taste as per your preference.
5. Pressure cook baby potatoes with turmeric and salt in water until cooked.
6. After cooking, let them cool and then peel the potatoes.
7. After peeling, make tiny holes with a fork all around the potatoes (to enable the gravy to absorb well.)
8. Heat 2-3 tablespoons of oil in a deep vessel.
9. Add ground masala.
10. Cook on slow flame for 3-5 minutes while stirring well.
11. Now add the boiled potatoes, and salt to taste. Stir well.
12. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
13. Garnish with coriander.
14. Enjoy with bread or rice.
