GetSetUp is the trusted platform for older adults to learn new skills and socialize with their peers. That’s why we are stepping up to help older adults learn how to book their vaccine appointment. The process to get information and book an appointment has been confusing, anxiety-inducing, and often near impossible to navigate for those without technical skills or someone to help them.
Starting last week we took action! Millions of learning moments have already improved the lives of older adults on GetSetUp and now our Vaccine Information sessions are easing worries over COVID-19 vaccines. Through live online Covid-19 Vaccine Information sessions older adults learn where to go for information in their area and how to navigate their state or county’s process for scheduling a vaccine, and have some of their questions answered.
Thanks to the support of local health officials in various states we are able to share first hand knowledge of vaccine processes by those who have been on the frontlines. This adds another great layer of local support to each community.
Keep in mind, none of our sessions are providing any medical advice or providing the vaccine itself, instead, we are offering information. Each person should speak to their specific health provider about their specific health situation.

Michigan’s Chief Medical Executive, Dr. Joneigh S. Khaldun, joins the GetSetUp Vaccine Info Session to provide an update on the Vaccine distribution for all of Michigan. Joneigh S. Khaldun, MD, MPH, FACEP is the Chief Medical Executive for the State of Michigan and Chief Deputy Director for Health in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). In these roles, she provides overall medical guidance for the State of Michigan as a cabinet member of the Governor and oversees public health and aging programs, Medicaid, and behavioral health for MDHHS. Prior to her MDHHS role, she was the Director and Health Officer for the Detroit Health Department, where she oversaw a robust community health assessment, established a comprehensive reproductive health network, spearheaded new human service efforts, and led Detroit’s response to the largest Hepatitis A outbreak in modern U.S. history.
